Argentine Tango is a passionate and deeply expressive partner dance and musical tradition that emerged in the port and working-class neighborhoods of Buenos Aires (Argentina) — and its neighbouring city Montevideo (Uruguay) — in the late 19th century. 

Unlike more formalised ballroom-style tango, Argentine Tango is fundamentally improvisational: dancers respond to each other and to the music in real time, allowing for a deeply personal, expressive and fluid connection.

The music and dance draw from a rich fusion of influences — African rhythms (such as candombe), Spanish, European waltz and polka, and local milonga traditions — reflecting the cultural melting-pot of the Río de la Plata region.

Argentine Tango is danced socially at events known as “milongas”, where people come together to share music, movement, and community. 

Its beauty lies in the connection — between partners, with the music, and across cultures — making it a dance that is both timeless and universal.
